Overview

Endorsed on the pro tour by Frances Tiafoe, the Air Zoom GP Turbo is designed to meet the demands of aggressive movers who crave speed, and support without sacrificing comfort. This update builds upon the success of the Air Zoom Zero, as Nike has injected this shoe with a full-length Zoom Air unit, which gives you even more spring as you propel to the next shot. The upper features a translucent textile which enhances breathability, and displays the Dynamic Fit system that lies underneath, helping to create a secure glove-like fit. The outsole has been reinforced in high wear areas to maximise the durability, and the medial side of the toe-box has added protection for those who slide into their shots out on the hard courts. The more traditional tongue, and lacing system provides added comfort, and a more accommodating fit, compared to the Air Zoom Zero that it replaces.

  • Upper: Translucent textile upper offers support in a breathable, supportive way, while the Dynamic Fit system hugs the feet for a very secure feel.
  • Midsole: Full length Zoom Air unit adds responsive cushion, and extra bounce.
  • Outsole: Durable outsole in an innovative design with beefed up durability for aggressive movers who like to slide on the court.
  • Colour: White / Black

Comments: I have worn Nike Vapor shoes for years. Got plantar fasciitis in the heel. Playing singles play is very painful. The Turbo's cushioning has allowed me back on the court with little pain. Amazing shoes.

Comments: Unbelievable shoes. No more pain in my hips or lower back after two hours of heavy heating. I am done with light shoes. Heavy shoes have more cushioning, more comfort, and in the end more mass to absorb the impact. Thank you Nike, this is the way! I am a 43 year old 5.0 level player who still runs after every ball.

Comments: These are great shoes. They are amazingly comfortable, stable, and incredibly fast and reactive. At first however, they'll give you the walking on a cloud, unconnected feel, which might make you feel awkward. All it takes is tightening the laces in the midfoot and ankle. Once you do it, they will feel like different shoes and you'll truly get what you paid for. Trust me. You'll be up on your serve with less effort, and they'll help you shift your balance on shots during rallies. I wore the Zoom Cage 3 shoes and loved them, and these are even better. As a bonus, since I'm a 48 year old. Who's played since the age of 6, finally shoes which alleviates my back problems. I've been told by a fellow player who had knee problems and started using them, that the shoes took care of that as well.

Comments: These shoes are the replacement for the Zoom Zero shoes. I loved the Zoom Zero shoes and really wanted to like these shoes. The Zoom Zero was light and very cushioned, but the construction of the shoes made them feel like they returned energy to you while absorbing shock. The only problem with the Zoom Zero was durability. I am an orthopedic, sports physical therapist, and a former collegiate tennis player, so I look at these shoes from an athletic perspective as well as an injury perspective. First, these shoes are very cushioned, but the cushion is not helpful for speed, agility, or injury prevention. It is slow and in my opinion, is an injury waiting to happen. The cushioning is very dense and if feels like you sink into it without any return or spring-back. This makes it a problem for ankle sprains as well as heel related injuries. These shoes are also very heavy. The combination of the dense cushioning and heaviness makes these shoes feel like you are running in wet sand. I wore the shoes for one week and injured my heel because of cushioning. I guess one positive thing about the shoes is that they appear to be durable.

Comments: I was interested in the Air Zoom GP Turbo and watched the review on the Tennis Warehouse website. I ordered two pairs,my normal size 10.5 and an 11 to compare. No way could I get my foot into my normal Nike size of 10.5, had to go with the 11 and even then, these shoes have a very narrow fit. I could tell the GP Turbo offered great support and cushioning, and hoped they might break in and loosen up after a little court time, but unfortunately they did not. I could struggle through only a few minutes of warmup before needing to change shoes. If you have narrow feet and value great support and cushioning over feel and response, these could be your shoes. Tennis Warehouse was very understanding and quick to accept the return. I appreciate the solid customer service.

Comments: Good, comfortable, supportive shoes. Switched out the orthotic. They are a little tight in toe box, but they loosen up. Have to use all the lacing holes to keep heel locked down with the thicker orthotic. Length fits true to size.
From: James, 12/20/20

Comments: Well balanced speed and comfort on the courts.
From: Genee, 11/26/20

Comments: Lucky I read the blogs before the purchase. Crucial information that a short, but painful break-in was needed. If I did not know that I would have returned them the first day I tried walking around my house in them. After that one painful session, and one painful session on the court they became the most comfortable tennis shoes I have worn. Great support. Feels like I'm floating around the court.

Comments: It has been five to six years since I wore religiously Vapor 9 shoes; but the design, fit, and quality of most Nike's shoes fell off dramatically to the point I had to switch to Asics. So I was skeptical when I took a chance on the GP Turbo. I was not only surprised, but astonished how true to fit and comfortable they were while still providing stability and traction. Very cushioned all over the entire footbed. They are a bit tight on the top of the toe box so I can't wear them all day. Other than that they are great. This is a repeat review of one I gave when I bought my first pair. This review was requested by TW since I bought two more pairs. I didn't want Nike re-designing them on me like they traditionally do. Again, a great pair of shoes.
From: James, 11/2/20

Comments: I'm a 5.0 level player, 43 years old. The GP Turbo shoes are very comfortable shoes. Better for narrow feet and go half a size up as recommended by TW. They are not the fastest, but very good shoes all around. If you like to play with shoes that hug your feet, if you like that tight feeling, these shoes are a very good option. They are very nice looking too. If you like space for some feet liberty in the shoe, try another style or brand.
From: Manuel, 11/1/20

Comments: These are very good shoes so far, three weeks in, 14-15 hours total play time. Comfortable, stable, a little tight in the toes, but still fine half a size bigger, I could almost opt for a full size instead of half, but the half is actually just right. These are warm, I don't know if it's lack of being able to breathe or just the extra cushion you feel. My legs aren't dead after two hours, but these feel a little heavier then what I'm used to, adidas Ubersonics. Although the Ubersonics last years, they were not comfortable later in their life and had almost no cushion. I don't know what the middle ground between comfort and weight would be, but I'll opt for these over the Ubersonics, which I've had a few pairs of. We will see how the toe holds up, I see this being a possible problem for draggers, these shoes might not hold for someone who's playing high school or college. I'm play recreationally three to four times a week mainly doubles, but singles as well and I'm just hopeful they make it to about five to six months anymore than that it'll be a success. With winter these will be fine, if I was playing in Arizona or somewhere hotter than the midwest these might be too hot, but that's my very amateur opinion. They hold well on the hardcourt, and are supportive, I have high arches and my feet feel pretty good in them without inserts although it might be tight if you have to put in inserts.

Comments: Big fan of these. Comments are correct that the toe box is tight. I wear size 10 shoes, but would probably do best with size 9.75 if there were such a thing. I feel a little squeeze in the toes with these, but no slippage. Overall, I find them very comfortable, I like the style and I would one hundred percent buy these again.
From: Chris, 10/28/20

Comments: Heavy shoes. Lots of cushioning, but heavy.
From: Tony, 10/28/20

Comments: Very disappointed. The toe box is so uncomfortable. I thought that the fit would be similar to Zoom Zero shoes, but Nike missed the mark on this one.
From: Brian, 10/26/20

Comments: I have regular to slightly narrow feet, so I liked the idea that these shoes would be tight. They were a bit too tight at the toes, so I jammed two golf balls in the toes overnight. Worked like a charm. Shoes fit perfect, are very soft and bouncy on these old feet. Great tennis shoes. I am a 4.0 level player from Virginia.
From: KG, 10/25/20

Comments: Overall these shoes were the best tennis shoes I've ever worn, but I would like to point out some important things for customers before buying it. These shoes fit best for players with normal feet and toes, narrow feet, and not for players with flat feet. Consider getting a half size bigger because if you get it the regular Nike size that you are used to wear, you may feel a bit pain in your toes especially in the right big toe, but after playing three to four times it stretches out and becomes normal. These shoes are a bit heavy, so players who are fit with good body it suits them perfectly, but for overweight and obese players it's not recommended at all. If you also play basketball and wear basketball shoes you'll find too many similar things in these shoes especially when running and quickly stopping or while jumping and smashing maybe because the sole if high and soft. I didn't find lots of reviews for these shoes on clay courts, but personally I'm using it on clay courts and the performance is more than perfect.
From: Norair, 10/25/20

Comments: I bought these shoes when they went on a good sale. I bought a size 11 instead my usual size 10.5 and they feel really long. I'll try the regular size next time. I have a pair of the current Vapor Cage 4 shoes and the Air Zoom GP Turbo shoes fit much better because of the high back heel area and the much better lacing fit. I don't wear the tops of my shoes much so all that material on top of the Vapor Cage 4 shoes is lost on me. For me the best of all would be the lacing of the Vapor X on top of the GP Turbos. For training either one works. Save your broken in Vapor X shoes for match day.
From: AP, 10/21/20

Comments: I purchased these shoes as a gift. He thought they were so comfortable he ordered himself a second pair.
From: Kim, 10/21/20

Comments: Ten times more stable and secure than the Air Zoom Vapor Cage 4! I blew through the outside wall of the Cage's stylish-black mesh in three months. The Air Zoom GP Turbo is reinforced on the outside toe and does not allow your foot to overshift the sole. If you like to shift direction a lot, the Air Zoom GP Turbo will give you longevity and comfort.
From: Jake, 10/19/20

Comments: Cushioned, comfortable, great playability, and lots of compliments. Plus, they give an extra inch or so of height. As an instructor on the court everyday, these shoes are appreciated by my knees and feet. I've got five pairs of Vapors sitting idle because I love these so much.
From: Rich, 10/15/20

Comments: Fantastic shoes. Solid build, heavy, and super comfortable. I am done with light shoes, after a few hours playing with light shoes my hips and back hurt, and I feel like my entire body hurts as well. This is the way! Thanks Nike and Tennis Warehouse.
From: Fernando, 10/14/20

Comments: Great shoes. First Nike tennis shoes I have tried. Used Asics Gel Resolution, Solution Speeds before. This model is very plush. Can really feel the difference with the full air zoom units. I have undergone ACL surgery and have cartilage issue. Have been using this for a couple of weeks and I feel less pain in my knee. Definitely less shock. Maybe not as supportive as Gel Resolution shoes, but adding a stiff upper will make these shoes much heavier, so it is a good compromise. These shoes feels very heavy in hand, but on court, you don't feel it. The springy effect makes you faster on court too. Only minor issue so far is the fit. These shoes are longer than the Gel Resolution of the same size. Looks too big on feet. Half a size lower could have worked as the upper is quite flexible. Slight rubbing of the big toe against the edge of shoes where the stitches are. This is only on the right shoe. Slightly thicker socks could fix that. Overall most comfortable shoes I have worn so far. Anyone with knee issues should try this.
From: Bejoy, 10/2/20

Comments: Earlier this year I returned a pair of the new Zoom Cages before even stepping onto the court with them. They felt bulky and I couldn't tie them tightly. Huge disappointment after owning around seven pairs of the Zoom Cage 3 shoes. The GP Turbo has made up for that misstep by Nike. These shoes are fantastic and some of my favorites ever from Nike, I've been wearing their tennis shoes for over 30 years. The forefoot cushioning is amazing, they don't feel too heavy, and I feel locked into these shoes after lacing them up. I hope they make these for years to come.
From: Brian, 9/29/20

Comments: Amazing shoes and service.
From: Kodie, 9/25/20

Comments: I have been wearing the Nike Zoom Zeros and adidas Ubersonic 3 which were my favorite shoes. I was a fan of the bootie construction on both the shoes. I decided to try these out. Like others have said, this is a very snug shoe with a narrow toe box. However, the toe box will start to open up as you play. I would recommend just staying true the size with this shoe. With that being said, this shoe offers such good stability and although it is heavier, they still allow me to move fast on the court. I can see why Tiafoe endorses this shoe.
From: Alex, 9/13/20

Comments: Been wearing the Asics Court FF for awhile now, but decided to give these new Nike's a try and I'm glad I did. Right out of the box they did feel a bit snug, but after one hour of play in them they felt amazing, light, and very cushioned. I have slightly wide feet and normally wear a size 10 but took a shot and ordered these in my size ignoring the go up a half size advice, they fit like a glove with very good support.

Comments: These are the best shoes ever. I tend to like heavier, supportive shoes, but these feel light and fast while giving me the support I need. I can play at a higher level for a longer time. Great!
From: Drew, 8/16/20

Comments: Great shoes if you like the top of your feet crushed. I have narrow feet and even going up a size, they were very uncomfortable. I really wanted to like them, but had to send them back. I think the Cages are a better fitting shoes once broken in.
From: Andy, 8/14/20

Comments: Best shoes Nike has made since the original Vapors. Comfortable, light and bouncy. I love everything about them.
From: Jaime, 7/26/20

Comments: I agree with Mark. These are the most comfortable Nike shoes of the last 15 years. Everyone has a different idea of fit but for my medium wide foot these are perfect in every way. I have played three 2 hours sessions so far and they are light, fast and very stable for a soft shoe. The biggest complement I can give them is that I do not even think about them when I am playing. I usually am a size 12 to 12.5 in Nike and these size 12s are perfect for me. I think these are a totally new shoe. I do not think they are a Zoom Zero at all. These are more like a great basketball shoe from the late 80's or early 90's. I just ordered another pair. If the insides last at least 4 months, I will order 6 more because all these shoe companies can't seam to keep a great line going. Great job Nike. Please just leave this shoe alone.
From:Keith, 7/24/20

Comments: Wish Nike could get their fits and sizing more standardized because these look amazing and I wanted to work out badly. The toe box is way too narrow and tight. I've been a size 12 in Nike for as long as I can remember in Nike's tennis, running, basketball, and golf shoes. One pair of Pegasus running I had to go up to a size 12.5. The only other 12.5 was the Zoom Zero tennis shoes, which were a tad long but at least fit width-wise. Not sure what Nike is doing with the GP Turbo. The size 12's did not come close to fitting and the even the 12.5's were definitely too tight tight in the forefoot and toe box as well. I gave up and didn't even bother trying a size 13, I figured even if they fit width-wise they would be too clownish and long. I have slightly wider feet but have never had to buy wide in any form of tennis or athletic shoes.
From: Bob, 7/23/20

Comments: As advertised these are really well cushioned shoes. Unfortunately they are also very narrow in the toe box. The Zoom Zeros fit me perfectly, but there is no way the GP Turbo will work. I'm returning these and thinking about going up a half size, but I'm not sure that will even do. A full size up may be much too long. The GP has an entirely different look and doesn't have the sleek profile and agile feel of the Zoom Zeros.
From: Mike, 7/23/20

Comments: Out of the box these kicks are fire, they look amazing. Solid. Sturdy. I put my foot in and felt like I was inserting my foot into a cloud, short lived. The toe box crushed my foot and the sneaker is short. Off a size. So, this is where my review ends. Didn't even get to a court, back in the box for a return. I ordered the next size up. Stay tuned for a full review.
From: Gaetan, 7/16/20

Comments: Wow! Here is my initial impression of the replacement to one of my favorite Nike shoes, the Zoom Zero. Took all that was good about the Zoom Zero and resolved the few flaws in that shoe and you have the GP Turbo! The move to wider support straps improves comfort dramatically without losing any of the stability. No more pinching in the mid foot when the shoes are snuggly laced. The sole is slightly less curved so it has a very slightly more traditional feel than the Zoom Zero, which was more curved. Better lateral stability due to the integrated roll bar on the other forefoot. The mesh outer is much more breathable than the Zoom Zero and the shoe is much easier to get into without the neoprene sleeve bootie inside. Finally, by double stacking the Air Zoom units, dare I say, the GP Turbo has even a plusher ride than the Zoom Zero, if that is possible, while never feels mushy. Nike has succeeded in stripping away everything that was extraneous in the Zoom Zero and fine tuning everything that was great about that shoe in the GP Turbo, The shoe is cool, quick, comfortable, and stable! The GP Turbo checks all the boxes. The GP Turbo is my new benchmark for tennis shoes.
