Overview

With the Pro Staff RF97 Autograph v13 Wilson updates Roger Federer's racquet with a new cosmetic but keeps everything else the same, including the magical target specs and sublime feel that Roger Federer helped engineer with the original red/black version. Like the previous generation, this update features the same silky texture and elegant simplicity. It also features a small silhouette of Federer, laser engraved graphics and a reproduction of Federer's signature. No classic Pro Staff would be complete without Wilson's timeless Pro Staff formula, including a braided graphite/aramid layup, headlight balance, thin beam and Perimeter Weighting System. Featuring a slightly wider, more angular beam than the traditional box beam of Original 6.0s, this racquet blends surgical control and feel with a dash modern power. From the baseline, the RF97's 12.6 ounce weight and beefy 330+ swingweight make it perfect for the advanced ball striker who wants tour level stability. In addition to surgical control and mindless touch, player's who can leverage the mass will find massive pace and genuine put-away power. At net this stick does not get pushed around. Simple blocks result in penetrating replies, and there is enough touch and pop to hit every shot in the book. You'll also find the required power, spin and precision on serve to rack up free points. Ultimately, there is a reason why Wilson hasn't made big changes to Federer's RF97 - you can't improve upon perfection.

Comments: The Wilson Pro Staff 97 v13 racquet is a high quality product! Lives up to it's claims. Massive control, precision, spin and slice. My raquet for life!
From: Wayne, Bahamas, 31/12/21

Comments: Great racquet! Tennis Only was very organized starting from order placement and stringing to delivery and tracking. I would recommend to friends for sure.
From: Anonymous, 23/12/21

Comments: Following my review of a couple of days ago, I tail weighted one of my Pro Staff 97's to achieve a 8 point head light balance, mainly to knife my backhand slice and it worked!
From: Raj, India/US, 18/9/21

Comments: Bought two frames to replace my RF97's and was really surprised that the weight was almost spot on! Kudos to Wilson quality control who really have stepped up their game! Both frames are strung with Natural Gut 16 (mains - 52 lbs) and Solinco Hyper-G 17 (crosses - 50lbs). Next time, I plan to go with Hyper-G Soft. Had to weight up the frames at the 3 and 9 position to increase the swing weight from 318 to Mid 320's and counterbalance with tail added weight for an 8 point head light balance. The string pattern plays more like an 18x20 with a relatively low launch angle, so a high follow through is a must. Great control and accuracy. Still struggling to find my backhand slice, so more on that later. Serves are great with the faster racquet speed and enhanced wrist snap, but I do miss the plow through of the RF97's.
From: Raj, India/US, 16/9/21

Comments: My opinion on this racquet at first was critical. Switching from a Wilson Clash to this was very weird at first. I got use to it after a week, and then loved playing with it ever since. While getting use to this, I still played the same with my Clash whenever I switched back to it. I will say, my shots have become more accurate with the smaller head size.
From: raig, Acton, 27/8/21

Comments: I played with Wilson Pro Staff 90 that Federer used and then switched to the RF97 for many years.I tried this Pro Staff 315 grams, and did not like the very low swing weight. However, if you add some weight to increase it (around 5-8 grams), you will have almost a similar feel to RF97 in a lighter package that performs superbly. I my opinion, it feel great as it has lower stiffness rating, too. I just ordered three of them.
From: Mikey, LA, CA, 11/8/21

Comments: I have both the 340 gram Pro Staff RF97 and this 315 gram Pro Staff v13. Both are strung with Solinco Hyper-G 18 at 55 lb. I tried them back to back over an extensive period of quite a few months. While the 315 gram is really good, I feel the 340 gram is way better (if you can swing it). Simply physics: there is no replacement for the weight of the racquet.

Comments: Amazing racquet! Beyond helpful customer service. TO always helps when you need it.
From: Anonymous, 24/7/21

Comments: Got it for my husband, who was playing with Countervail. He is happy with this racquet performance.
From: Alena, FL, 25/6/21

Comments: Can't say enough good things about this racquet. I hit with Babolat frames my whole life because of the free power they give you. However I find them to be erratic when you don't hit with a ton of spin. Also they're not the easiest on the wrist or arm. I heard Roger talk about this racquet being a good one for people who hit flatter balls and want precision so I decided to give v13 a shot as I didn't like the previous version. Wow what a difference. This is the best Pro Staff 97 they've made. It's plush feeling but gives great feedback and the ball goes where you tell it to. Great for returning fast serves or absorbing pace and punching volleys.I don't get as much free power but I'm much more accurate and hitting was less errors. Definitely been winning more with this. In fact I made the final of the first USTA tournament I played with it. I've found my forever racquet. And the black paint job is super cool looking. I'm a 47 year old 4.0.
From: Sean, 31/5/21

Comments: "Downsized" from an RF97 I had been using for about 6 years. While the RF plow was superb, the stick didn't allow the racquet head speed I should be hitting with. Tried the PS97 and it's pretty whippy in stock form, but about 4 grams of lead at 12 o'clock dialed in the control right where I want it while still letting me swing away and provides some extra pop. Groundstrokes have improved depth, which I figure has to come from a higher spin rate combined with swinging more freely. First serve doesn't bomb as hard as the RF, but my double fault rate is down quite a bit. I'm a 6'3, 190 lb. 4.0+ player and still prefer racquets on the heavier side, but the RF made sure 3rd sets were a guaranteed loss. Wish I made the switch sooner.
From: Ryan, 10/6/21

Comments: Racquet plays well, very similar to my 2014 Six.One. Half an ounce lighter. Nice transition. What I didn't like was TW's trade-in program. I told them what I had. I believe these were all grade A or B racquets. They said they would take them and evaluate them and reimburse me later. I sent my racquets in for evaluation an about 10 days later, I received a email stating they all had exposed graphite. I guess they just want brand new racquets. But, fear not, that got what they wanted me to buy a new racquet from them!
From: Bob, 14/5/21

Comments: I have a couple of these, as well as five of the v11 black, non-Countervail. The v11 are available again and I personally am planning on buying a couple more of the older version simply due to the lower price. I notice very little difference between the v11 and v13. Both are fantastic racquets. The biggest difference between the two versions is actually the butt cap, which is more comfortable on the newer version. Cosmetically there are small differences as well. Either racquet is a great choice for better players that want precision and can generate their own power.
From: Darin, 10/5/21

Comments: Extremely happy with this racquet. The control and feel is incredible. I can place my shots short or deep very easily and precisely. Very stable on volleys. The headlight balance allows me to generate fast racquet head speed for a fast serve. Love it! Kudos to Wilson!
From: Michael T, 15/4/21

Comments: Bought this for my teen junior for tournament play after using the TW demo option. We chose this particular Pro Staff after using TW's information tables which we found extremely helpful in finding the right fit. The racquet itself has been superb. It's amazing how much his game improved once we were able to find the exact right fit.
From: Steve, 13/4/21

Comments: It's a nice racquet. I went from the v11.0, non-Countervail to this. No major changes, but I do feel the tighter string pattern creates a slightly flatter ball and I had to adjust to that over the first few hours of playing. I do like weighted tape at the top of the frame, but the racquet is well balanced on its own. One thing to note, the change in the butt cap is easier on my hand. It's more rounded. The previous generation was tearing up my hand and this has been a nice improvement. For those who are new to Pro Staff, this stick is solid, but not too heavy. Good balance of power and control. I can easily control pace from a heavy hitting opponent. The thing I like most about this racquet is it is solid at every stroke in the game. If I need to be a serve and volleyer, it's solid. If I have to camp at the baseline, it's consistent and stable. It's not the easiest racquet to use, but once you get a feel for it, it's very reliable. I've been an on and off Pro Staff user since I was a junior player, and this is a very good iteration.
From: MS, 11/4/21

Comments: The Wilson Pro Staff v13 is the perfect racquet for me. It has the best blend of power, spin, and control I have found. After trying the Federer signature model, I knew it had the feel I like, but was a bit too heavy for me. The v13 comes in slightly lighter, but still has plenty of mass that allows me to relax through my strokes. I love it!
From: Michael, 29/3/21

Comments: Great racquet with great control and feel, especially when hitting in the sweetspot. I find this racquet weight to be the most ideal for generating great power and overall stability, especially when playing with heavy hitters.
From: Ali, 25/3/21

Comments: Great racquet coming from the v11 version. I demo'd several Babolat and Yonex racquets, but couldn't make them work. The Pro Staff 97 finds a really great compromise on weight. With heavier racquets I struggle to generate as much topspin and am late setting up on fast balls, with lighter racquets I can't serve as hard or generate as much power. I also like the rounded butt cap on the handle, which is much more comfortable than the v11 squared-off cap.
From: Phillip, 21/3/21

Comments: Awesome racquet. Demoed this along with several Yonex models and this one delivers on control and is very comfortable on the arm. Have to be able to generate your own power though.
From: Jeff, 8/3/21

Comments: The best Pro Staff to date! I have been a long time Pro Staff user. I started playing with the Pro Staff line back in 2012 with the Six.One Classic 95. Then in 2013 I moved on to the BLX Pro Staff Six.One 95. Then in 2015 I tried out the Pro Staff 97 red and black model and honestly wasn't that much of a fan, so I stuck with the BLX model. I heard a lot of hype regarding this new version of the Pro Staff. Although specs are the same as the 2016 model, the feel and ball pocketing are a world apart in my opinion. It somehow even feels more maneuverable, but that may just be because I have far more confidence using this racquet due to the forgiveness provided when you hit off-center so I tend to swing more freely. Wilson boasted about that 45 carbon weaving and I thought it was just marketing lingo, but it truly does make a difference. Also, the tighter stringbed in the sweetspot they got by adjusting the positioning of some of the grommet holes is evident by the effortless spin and control you get when you hit the sweetspot. Now enough about the playability, can we talk about this awesome matte black paint job? They are harkening back to the era of their older Pro Staffs with the subtle red and yellow lines along one side of the throat and the inside of the top part of the head. Kind of reminds me of the Pro Staff Six.One Classic that I mentioned I started out with. All in all, a great racquet and I am certain if it falls within your spec range, give it a demo and you'll surely buy it. I strung mine up with Solinco Confidential 17 gauge at 54 pounds on the mains and Gamma Live Wire Professional 17 gauge at 56 pounds on the crosses for awesome feel, added pocketing, comfort, and easy access to spin.
From: Joshua, 20/2/21

Comments: Best racquet I have ever had. Getting used to the weight coming from a 10.8 to 11.4 ounce racquet. It is a tank. Huge balls coming at me and the Pro Staff blocks them and catapults them back, solid.
From: Anonymous, 13/2/21

Comments: An absolute beast of a racquet. The Pro Staff 97 v13 is a tool for stability, feel, precision, and spin. I personally loved this racquet because I have a fast and heavy swing which sometimes make the ball go a little bit too wide, but with the Pro Staff 97 v13 I got perfect power and spin for my swing style save for some miss hits in the beginning. When facing a big server or a hard hitter the racquet provides some excellent feedback and stability. The volleys on this racquet make for some great shots, I kind of felt like Federer hitting volleys out there which gave me a confidence boost. Coming from an oversized head racquet, I did not expect the transition to be as smooth as it was, even though the racquet is 97 square inches it still felt so consistent. Because of the tech behind the racquet, the sweetspot is pretty much anywhere on the racquet. Yes, the racquet can sometimes be less powerful than you need it to be, but it provides the ultimate precision and consistency for your shots, also it's really easy to follow through with your swing because of the great feel it provides, and the fast swing as a result of the highly headlight balance which compensates for the heavy weight of the racquet as well. I'm sure I have more to say about the racquet, but for now I hope this review helps you make your decision.
From: Abdulrahman, 11/2/21

Comments: I have been using mostly Wilson frames for the last five years and this new version of the Pro Staff is the best model I have used yet. The stick has incredible feel and pockets the ball well. This is a great model for anyone looking to attack the net.
From: Robbert, 11/2/21

Comments: have played with the two previous versions of this racquet which I enjoyed; but this version is even more satisfying.
From: Annymous, 8/2/21

Comments: Excellent, very happy with it.
From: Ilal, 3/2/21

Comments: ice work done with the strings and overall the racquet seems to be very satisfying
From: Jongchang, 3/2/21

Comments: This is an amazing racquet! Very maneuverable with the right amount of weight. The Pro Staff 97 really allows you to plow through the ball effortlessly. This Pro Staff is also great for adding more spin to the ball on groundstrokes and serve. Overall I love this racquet!
From: Dennis, 27/1/21

Comments: Good for control. Need to swing fully to get power and definitely need good technique to realize the potential of this racquet. I used ALU Silver at 55 pounds on the mains and a Babolat string at 52 pounds on the crosses for control. I recommend stringing at a lower tension. Overall great control, low on power.
From: Jay, 24/1/21

Comments: Amazing racquet, so glad they decided to go with the old school look of the 6.0 Pro Staff 85 square inch. My bag now has two of these new 97s and two old school 85s. This racquet hits very well, even with the 65 tension on a full bed of ALU Rough, the frame is stiff and has get feeling on the serve and volley. I cannot wait to string some natural gut with polyester closer to 50 pounds tension. Best for continental and eastern grip players. I am sure Wilson may play with the weight and balance slightly. But one could just add lead tape if needed in the frame if you wanted a bit more plow through, or a closer feeling to the replica RF heavy version. I personally don't think anyone should play with the actual RF version seriously, unless they have UTR well above 10. This is a shotmaker's racquet, for a player that doesn't need help from the racquet to generate power. All in all, I would give this racquet a 8.8 out of 10..
From: Dreher, 21/1/21

Comments: Best Wilson Pro Staff I have hit with yet. I have been using Pro Staffs my whole life. Thank you guys at Tennis Only for making this posable.
From: Antonio, 21/1/21

Comments: Excellent racquet, great for those who hit through the ball with a flatter stroke. More work is required to generate spin. Holds up better against players who are big hitters. Great for volleys. One needs to generate a lot of racquet speed to hit big serves though. Not as heavy as the RF version, but one can definitely feel the difference from a Blade. Not my favorite design, but a good looking racquet overall.
From: Rob, 20/1/21

Comments: It's an amazing racquet, just release your hand and it will make the job as longas you are hitting the correct way. However it needs lowering the tension to feel the power.
From: A, 14/1/21

Comments: I purchased this while I was looking for something in between Phantom 93P and VCORE Pro 330. First, though lighter than the previous, it is quite stable. Second, it's control-oriented. It does not turn into a catapult when you string it with multifilament. Fearing for my sensitive elbow, I got Bi-Phase 18 gauge. It works very good. I have not demoed EZONE Tour and new Radical Pro. But still, I think it will perform better on one handed backhand than these. I'd consider it a more arm-friendly version of my Six.One BLX.
From: Philanthropenos, 9/1/21

Comments: I used to play with a Pro Staff 95 BLX, decided to switch to the 97 to give it a shot. To my surprising this frame has a bit more power and comfort. I notice this frame absorbs the shock really well, not too muted, so you can feel the ball. Love the black paint job. I also notice the frame is a bit heavier, but I think with a few more hitting session to get use to.
From: Jonyu, 4/1/21

Comments: New to the Pro Staff series and really happy with this particular iteration. I've used various racquets from Prince, Babolat, and Yonex, and I can say this is by far the best racquet for me. I can take full swings and control where it goes in the court compared to my previous racquets where my ball would sail somewhere. Racquet feels sturdy and love the feel with volleys, and to top it off, huge fan of the black frame aesthetics. I pair it with black strings, Wilson NXT at 55 pounds, and pink overgrip to create a black and pink racquet. I am a 3.5-4.0 level rating.
From: Bryan, 3/1/21

Comments: I am very happy with this racquet. Coming from the BLX Pro Staff 95, this was a fairly easy transition. More power in this frame, but still plenty of control everyone knows and loves about the Pro Staff. The feel is unbelievable. I wasn't quite convinced with the first iteration of the Pro Staff 97, but in the last five years they have definitely improved in that aspect. Aesthetics-wise, I love the paint job, but in true Wilson fashion, it won't last long. I'm not careless, but occasionally you have to scrap the ground to get a ball and it doesn't take much for the paint to start wearing away. If you're like me and a Pro Staff 95 user, now is the time to upgrade!
From: Joshua, 31/12/20

Comments: I started learning and playing tennis actively in November 2019. My first racquet was a Prestige Tour. Good racquet, good control, decent power, until I started using more wrist and shoulder to generate power and spin when I started getting pain on the inner side of the forearm. That's when I tried my coach's Clash and Pro Staff 97 v13. Instant improvement. Similar control to the Prestige, but virtually no pain. I have bought two Pro Staff 97 v13 racquets, with Luxilon 1.15, as recommended by Wilson at 54 pounds, and am loving it. Not only is there minimal to no pain, I am also generating more spin and pace.
From: Bhaskar, 30/12/20

Comments: I am very happy with the Wilson Pro Staff 97 v13 racquets, I did notice that even at low tensions Solinco Hyper-G 17 gauge, 51 pounds and 49 pounds, the racquet is very low powered, I personally prefer this. The service with the Racquet Matching by Tennis Warehouse makes these racquet almost identical. I am going to experiment with lower tension to see how the racquet plays.
From: Charles, 30/12/20

Comments: I'm a long time Pro Staff user, 3.5 to 4.0 Rating, mid 40's. Mainly used a Pro Staff RF97 for many years. Based on the latest reviews and removal of the Countervail, purchased the Pro Staff v13. It's definitely a control racquet, and not as powerful as RF97. Given that it's lighter than RF97, I find it better for serves and volleys, but miss the plow through and power in the groundstrokes. There is no substantial difference in slice strokes between the two. It's a very stable racquet and good for consistency.
From: Michael, 28/12/20

Comments: I have been playing with Head racquets for two decades. I am now switching to the Wilson Pro Staff with a smaller head, which give me lot of convenience at the net. Also the racquet is more heavy than my produce model, it is easier to swing. Besides Wilson Pro Staff offered a vivid black colour that I like.
From: Kevin, 24/12/20

Comments: Love the Wilson Pro Staff 97 v13. I used to play with the RF97 in the past and then switched to the Babolat Pure Aero. The Pro Staff v13 has a more plush feel and better control than my past racquets. Before using Pro Staff, I used to overshoot my balls and had less control. Definitely have more control with this racquet, but feel that power is more difficult to generate compared to RF97. I can also generate decent topspin. Serving with this racquet is also rewarding and I feel more confident serving with this racquet in my hand.
From: Reyad, 4/12/20

Comments: I've played with every version of the Pro Staff 97 the last years and liked every model except the Countervails. I was excited to see the new v13 line with the amazing old school eighties look, in homage to the famous tennis players, well done Wilson! Furthermore the little tighter string pattern helps to place the ball wherever you want and it's more precise than the v11 version. You've to create your own power and a hybrid string it's always a good choice in this outstanding racquet. The feel on volleys, slices, and attacking strokes is great. It's really important to put a nice string like a hybrid, I put in the mains ALU Power Rough and crosses any natural gut, or a full bed of a softer polyester like a Luxilon Hyper-G. It's really a fine piece of art racquet and just love to play with my new Pro Staff.
From: Michael, 2/12/20

Comments: I've played with each of the Pro Staff 97 models with varying degrees of success and enjoyment, RF and non-RF versions. I never stuck with the frames, but I thought they were pretty solid. I did notice uncontrollable power, and the racquet spray at times. So, I was excited to hear Wilson had tightened the string spacing in the sweetspot on this model. With that being said, after playing with the racquet several times, I'm sad to report it was one of the most uncomfortable, jarring, and odd feeling racquets I've ever played with. It gave new meaning to the concept of a brassy feel. I'm not sure if I got a lemon, but it was matched to web specs, always a stellar service by Tennis Warehouse by the way. I also had a friend hit with it to make sure I wasn't just imagining things, and he immediately agreed, in fact, he couldn't hit more than two rallies before saying that was enough. We both are 5.0 level players. I had really high hopes for this frame, but it was a huge disappointment. I'm happy it's working for some players though, so I encourage you to demo for yourself. I'd say the TW reviews were on point except for comfort. The racquet was strung at 50 pounds with yellow Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.20 mm. Maybe that was just a bad string combo for this stick.
From: Bo, 23/11/20

Comments: In my opinion of the v13 was more maneuverable compared to v11. I get more control and more spin from the v13. Even on serves I found the v13 better. Generating racquet head speed is easier for v13 and so I liked it on serves. Similarly, higher racquet head speed helped generating more spin. Power level wise I found both v13 and v11 similar. The area where I struggled was on defense. When I was on the run and returned the balls they were falling short. My opponent also said that my balls are much heavier with the v11 compared to the v13, this may be because of lower swingweight on the v13. Reducing the string tension helped me get the depth and the heaviness back to my shorts. If I have to sum it up I would say the racquet is much more maneuverable and offers more control than the earlier versions.
From: Harshal, 22/11/20

Comments: The Wilson Pro Staff 97 v13 is magnificent, I use Tecnifibre NRG2 16 at 56 pounds. The first time if you are used to using a lot of lift, you will have to review your gesture because it is more difficult to hit the sweetspot. But once you get that little bit of adjustment and you hit the ball and don't hesitate to swing it all the way to the end then you hear the nice sound and a powerful ball. I even think I'll buy a second. I used to play with a Radical Pro.
From: Charly, 20/11/20

Comments: I have the stick for around four days and played already five hours with it. So, I string it with RPM Blast 1.20, at 53 on the mains and 49 pounds on the crosses and usually I'm playing with Yonex VCORE Pro 97 310 grams, the 2018 model with red and dark color not the last one, with around three grams of stain at 3 and 9 o'clock. I had in the past the black Federer Autograph stick. I added the details just to be clear from where I come. This new Pro Staff is a strange animal. First of all you don't feel the weight and it is very whippy. In stock form it looks pretty slow with a strange feel at the ball. So, in stock form my one handed backhand was good, serve was good, but forehand couldn't dial-in properly. The feel is very strange as well. I added some stain at 3 and 9 o'clock, around two grams in total, and it looks that I can hit the forehand better. What is really strange is the feel, which is missing in comparison with VCORE Pro that I usually use or at least is very different. The sweetspot is pretty small. So, overall, the backhand is okay, forehand still needs work, the volleys needs some training as well, the serve works great. What I saw is that usually if you pick the ball fast on rise the hit is very good on both sides. If you like that chip and charge style of playing it is perfect with this racquet. So, I'm pretty dedicated to play with this new stick, I will try to give more time and attention on correcting that missing stuff, but I think the hype is too much for what this really offers. Maybe a thinner frame would be better on improving the feel and as well a little bit more swingweight. Sure, on swingweight you can correct with stain stripes. Better test it before buy it. I cannot say that I can recommend this so, better test it and draw your conclusions before buying it. Some colleagues hit few balls and feedback was confusing because one said it is slow and dead, he usually playing with a Pure Strike 18x20, previous generation. The other said that is fast enough, even faster than current stick he used, Blade v7 18x20. The design is amazing and maybe that's why I want to put energy on playing with it.
From: Cristian, 16/11/20

Comments: The racquet works well. I love the weight of the racquet. Now I tried to string this racquet with a low tension and a high string tension, I personally love the higher string tension. It hits precisely. I love this racquet.
From: Tristan, 12/611/20

Comments: I've been using the Pro Staff dating back to the original. I even bought the TO reissues when they were around. Please bring those back once more. I bought a couple of these v13 racquets sight unseen because the reviews cleared up any concerns I might have had. I played with them for the first time this past week and wow. The feel with these is insane. I strung them with a hybrid of Babolat RPM Blast, 51 pounds on the mains, and a Babolat multifilament, 53 pounds on the crosses. I love the feel, but a bit too loose as my flattish ball is consistently landing about a couple of inches out. My fear was that the racquet would be too light. It is, even when adding beautiful calfskin leather grips to both. I used to use the RF 97, but at 51 now, it's just too heavy after one and a half hours. These are amazing. They don't get pushed around at all. My slices are epic. My two-handed backhand definitely requires some cleaning, but I am blasting winners from anywhere in the court with my forehand. It feels like I don't even have to try. As long as I commit and rip it, it's a winner. Same on my backhand, but it has to be clean contact and not muscle-ing the ball. Volleys were butter with good contact. Serving was easy and crazy accurate though felt a bit less speedy as with my Yonex EZONE 98+ racquets. The racquets are, by far, the most beautiful sticks I've ever owned, and with the addition of the brown leather grips as an homage to the original 85s, they couldn't look more awesome. Definitely give these a demo. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Sorry, Yonex, I'm back home at Wilson!

Comments: Awesome racquet from Wilson, no more Countervail! I use to use the first Pro Staff 97 about five years ago, this new v13 Pro Staff is like no other Pro Staff. The feel is much better than the previous version. The best racquet from Wilson hands down!

Comments: In my honest opinion this is the worst Pro Staff 97 yet. Compared to the first version,2015, this v13 is lousy. The 2015 version gives you more pop, a much more connected feeling to the ball, and a slightly larger sweetspot. I've been playing with the Pro Staff line of racquets for 17 years. 15 of those years I've been playing USTA 5.0 Mens League Singles and Open Middle States Tournaments. I know this line of racquets inside and out. In my opinion, this is by far the worst Pro Staff 97 yet. I could say more, but I won't. Don't believe me? Buy one and find out for yourself.

Comments: ery Pro Staff feel. Not powerful. Is it not significantly better than the previous 315g version? It does look cool and I believe you should buy one if you have been playing with Pro Staffs. Having said that, not as powerful as the RF, but a lot easier to swing.

Comments: I used to play with RF97 struggling with the stiffness and the weight of the racquet. I had to swing hard and fast to make a good topspin shot. Now just played with this new v13, 54 pounds on the mains and 51 pounds crosses and I love it. Definitely it has much more pocket effect and I can feel the ball much better, all groundstrokes and the serve are especially much more accurate. It is much easier to handle with less weight. It has less power than RF, but I love the accuracy of this v13 and will buy another one soon.

Comments: The best racquet ever produced by Wilson, period.

Comments: Finally found my perfect set up! I'm 27 year old 4.5 level male player, and long time Pro Staff user. Until recently, my primary stick was the Pro Staff RF97, I loved stability and plow through, however for long rallies it was quite a challenge to handle, especially off position shots. I knew I needed something lighter, but previous generations of the Pro Staff 97 just did not feel right, harder to return and to volley. With v13, I decided to twist things a little, I switched to a leather grip, nod to RF97, kept the original balance by adding 6 grams of lead at 12 o'clock, strung it with Babolat VS Gut 1.30 in mains at 55 pounds and Luxilon ALU Power Spin 1.27 in crosses at 53 pounds and wow! This racquet has amazing stability, 347 grams in total, feel, maneuverability, power, and control. All aspects of my game obtained an extra edge, serves, volleys, off position shots, and dirty dirty slices, it is so good! Absolutely in love with this frame! Recommend to 4.0 or higher players simply because of the weight.

Comments: I always get 4 3/8 but when I got this racquet it felt much bigger than stated. That's the only real issue I've had. Great racquet overall.

Comments: This new Pro Staff has a denser pattern due to the 45 degree angle braid. The feel is definitely improved and feels tighter, just a little bit, than the previous version. I am a 5'9 aggressive 14 year old with a single hander. I use Black Code 16 orange and yellow at 56 pounds. Like Federer and Musetti, I like head light racquetsThis racquet moves through the air pretty quickly with some weight behind the shot. My favorite parts of this racquet are the volleys, slices, and the serves. The slices feel really great and I can't slice better with anything else. The volleys have great feel and put-away power. For the volleys I could volley deep and the next ball, drop volley. For the serves the head light balance lets me maneuver the racquet for a kick serve and also due the tighter string pattern, could hit spots on the court. Now for the negatives. This racquet has a smaller sweetspot compared to most racquets these days. For a person to swing this, they need to hit the sweetspot consistently. Also this racquet doesn't provide easy and basic spin because of the shape and the 97 square inch head. This review might come of as bias because I used the old all black Pro Staff 97 with no Countervail before this one. I feel that if you can contact the sweetspot and can't handle the weight of the RF97, this racquet will reward with great feel, control, and power. I am comparing it to the non-Countervail Pro Staff, all black or red and black, because the Countervail is just too muted.
